Search Engine Optimisation (SEO) and it's use
What is SEO?
Search Engine Optimisation (SEO) is a technical configuration in metatags inside the header of websites source code which helps to rank the web pages on top of the Search Engine Results page (SERP) on the search engines such as google, bing, yahoo, and so on (Hathaway, 2022). In other words SEO refers to the process of optimising the visibility of the websites on the search engines search results in order to increase the traffic on the web page (What is SEO - Search Engine Opitmisation?, 2023). The main objective of SEO is to increase the page ranking in the organic search results on web (Hathaway, 2022).
Uses of SEO
- SEO is used to enhance the credibility of web page because a site that appears highly on search engine results pages is often seen as high-quality and reliable by search engines, which raises the credibility of the company and business (Muthoni, 2021).
- It is used in content marketing because organic content and SEO go hand in hand by producing useful content for visitors, such as text, images, and videos, due to which the site will rank higher in search results (Muthoni, 2021).
- It is used to improve traffic engagements as a well-optimized website attracts quality traffic. If the website have useful content that matches the users' intent, they will likely spend more time browsing, which can lead to more conversions and increased ROI (Muthoni, 2021).
